<Coral reefs>

The EcoMode Society (EMS) is an NGO working to preserve our environment be it terrestrial or marine. As the name suggests, the team supports eco-friendly lifestyles through implementation of national programmes dealing with Solid Waste Management, Protection of Marine Ecosystem and Biodiversity, Resource Management, Resource Conservation and Public Awareness Campaigns.

Project Summary

After the WAKASHIO accident, there has been sand movement around the site, which we think may have affected the coral. We will regenerate this area by collecting and nurturing coral near the accident site and returning it to where it was originally found. A proper and proven methodology will be adopted to grow corals (species from the Wakashio sites) and a management plan will be made available to complete rehabilitation of the site. Furthermore, the project will aim at educating fisher communities and Mauritian population towards marine conservation. We expect to generate scientific data on coral growth and survivorship.
