Project Summary

Mauritius suffers from a lack of awareness in the area of sustainability. There is a lack of comprehension of the environmental challenges facing the island. Environmental sustainability and green entrepreneurship are subjects cruelly missing in the syllabus in schools. The GREENT program, owned by JA Bulgaria was co-created by a team of 25 teachers from Bulgaria, Greece, Latvia, Norway, and Romania with the support of sustainability experts. The aim of this program is to foster sustainable economic growth of the people of the Republic of Mauritius by focusing on Green Entrepreneurship because we believe thriving communities can only be built in a world where nature is restored and protected. In the first year, a pilot project will focus on the contextualization of the GREENT program and target 50 beneficiaries from schools and/or non-formal education centers and NGOs. In the second year, the project will focus on training in Green Entrepreneurship with a target of 150 beneficiaries from schools, non-formal education centers, and NGOs.
