<Agriculture>

F.A.L.C.O.N (Farmers in Agriculture, Livestock, Cooperative, Organic Network) Association was founded in 2004 and registered to the Registrar of Association as an NGO. Its vision is to support farmers and farmers’ organisations in their production, marketing, advocacy, innovation & technology and capacity building in agricultural sectors at national and international levels.

Project Summary

This project aims to train and develop the capacity of small and medium scale farming communities in Mauritius to enable them to practice Organic Farming and/or Climate-Smart Agriculture and get the economic and social benefits from these practices, and thereby improve their livelihood and quality of life. A Participatory Guarantee System (PGS) will be developed and set up for those farmers already practicing Organic Farming but not able to get organic certification of their produce due to the high cost of third-party certification. Transforming the conventional agronomic practices of farmers to sustainable ones (either Organic and/or CSA) will also contribute significantly to improving food security and food safety for the consumers, and also for the health of the environment.
