EcoMode Society

<Coral reefs>

The EcoMode Society (EMS) is an NGO working to preserve our environment be it terrestrial or marine. As the name suggests, the team supports eco-friendly lifestyles through implementation of national programmes dealing with Solid Waste Management, Protection of Marine Ecosystem and Biodiversity, Resource Management, Resource Conservation and Public Awareness Campaigns.

Project Summary

Coral farming will be implemented to restore damaged corals. Coral fragments will be collected around the Wakashio oil spill area and then transferred to the coral nurseries at Pointe Aux Feuilles. Upon reaching maturity, they will be translocated back to the damaged sites. Monitoring of coral nurseries will be done on a regular basis. Dimensions of coral fragments will be recorded for coral growth to be analysed using an AI algorithm. Children will be introduced to the concept of using AI in marine ecology.
A Quiz on the environment for the general public will also be done for better learning experience.
Pamphlets will be made for AI propaganda. Overall, the project will aim at educating the Mauritian population using technology after fully developing the AI.
