Project Summary

The SOS Mangrove Programme Phase 2 has been developed to ensure the continuity of the activities conducted under the first year of the SOS Mangrove programme implemented by Reef Conservation in 2021.It aims at bridging the remaining knowledge gaps on the mangrove ecosystems found in Mauritius (e.g. carbon sequestration potential and commercially important marine species contribution) and to work closer with communities in order to continue raising awareness on the importance of mangrove ecosystems. Additionally, this project will set the foundations to implement mangrove restoration programs all year round in Mauritius through the construction of a mangrove nursery and enhancing the networking with the different NGOs and stakeholders active in this field.
